Line too long warning for comments

Nov 2, 2010 at 7:27 PM

I'm getting a line too long message for my JS comments and I don't get those warnings when I use the web version of JSLint.

Can anyone explain why this is or how I can disable this message?

Thanks,

Rich

You might have found it already but there were no other hits.

Visual studio, Tools, JSLint Options, JSLint Options tab, Down to the left you find "Maximum line length", type 900 ther and you are safe ;)

Thank you so much.   Odd how my eye just skipped over that.

I have the same problem with "Line too long" error.

But I couldn't see "Maximum line length" input box on the JSLint option box dialog.

Where is it?

Is there any "JSLint config file" that I could edit ?

Just to second jkancio's comment:

We have the JS Lint extension installed on Visual Studio 2012, and there is no box in the "JS Lint Options" dialogue to set the maximum line length.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

1. On JS Lint Options tab, Click "Export" to export all options as a xml file

2. Open the xml file

3. Find and change the section "<MaxLength>90</MaxLength" into "<MaxLength>900</MaxLength>"

4. Click "Import" to update JSLint options on JS Lint Options tab,.

Thanks, cnlangzi, that works great.

The only problem is that after every change to the config file, it's necessary to import the file again in order to update the settings.

Ideally, the tool should work off this config like all other VS tools (for example StyleCop). A kind of "Use external config" box with a browse button.

Any ideas why you can't see it? Can you post a screenshot and what system you are on (e.g. operating system, screen dpi, screen resolution)

Happy to do that. How exactly does one attach an image to a response?
